Technical Applications
There is a wide range of existing and to be discovered technical applications implying UAVs that will help you save time and increase your productivity.
Photogrammetry is the science of making measurements from photographs, especially for recovering the exact positions of surface points. Photogrammetry is as old as modern photography, dating to the mid-19th century. Satellites and planes have used the Stereophotogrammetry technique for years to produce accurate maps and fantastic tools such as Google Earth.
Today, with the combination of increased computer processing power, latest drone technology, high resolution camera and powerful photogrammetry software, it is possible to provide similar aerial surveys for smaller areas and at a fraction of the cost.
Ultimately, since we fly lower than planes or satellites, the resolution and the accuracy are being greatly increased.
Most technical jobs are being charged per area (except for inspection jobs) so there is no surprise in the final invoice. Our unit is the hectare, and the more hectarage to survey, the less we charge per hectare. Contact us today for a free quote by providing us an approximate location and the surface area that needs to be surveyed.
Below a few samples of the main technical jobs that Digisky provides.

Mapping
Mapping a farm or an orchard has never been easier. Digisky provides high resolution Ortho-rectified images of your orchard or your farm that can be imported into GIS software (or Google Earth) for further planning and measurements.
In addition, when required, we are able draw your map upon your requirements (attributes, library) by displaying the relevant features of your property such as hazards, access driveway, loading bay, canopy area etc...
Standard ground sample resolution <4cm per pixel
Output: GeoTIFF, Jpeg, KMZ (Google Earth overlay)
Map output: PDF, Shapefile
Survey Data Collection
For most surveying companies, onsite data collection is a time consuming part of their business operation. Instead of spending days to collect points on the ground, the valuable workforce of a surveying company could be dedicated to engineering designs and drawings. Digisky offers to collect millions of points at a fraction of the time and a fraction of the regular involved costs. In addition, the end results will provide invaluable information that would be impossible to get with a traditional ground survey.
Ultimately, since we don’t need to step into hazardous areas and we are able to reach difficult to access sites; our operations are way safer than ever.
2D export: Ortho-rectified image (Jpeg, TIFF)
3D export: Surface (Geo TIFF), TIN surface (DXF), Contours Lines, Point grid, Profile etc...

Volumetric quantification
The use of photogrammetry with UAVs to obtain volumes attracts a few benefits:
- It's quick: no need for GCPs for a stockpile volume calculation, you will get the results within 48h
- It's safe: no need to step into hazardous areas, unlike traditional survey method
- It's efficient: our method implies no operation disturbance within the surveyed site
- It's accurate: our results will get a detailed image of the stockpiles with more details than traditional points' collection method. Our work has been tested within 3% accuracy*.
